During a routine voyage, a major fracture was discovered in the main engine bedplate of a 30,000 DWT bulk carrier. The crack threatened the alignment of the crankshaft and the overall structural integrity of the vessel's propulsion system. Conventional welding was impossible due to the risk of heat-induced misalignment.
FMCS METALOCK deployed the Metaseal on-line leak sealing system. Our specialists designed and fabricated a custom Direct Injection Clamp to fit the specific flange geometry. Using high-temperature resistant compounds, we injected the sealant under pressure directly into the leak area while the line remained fully operational at 350°C and 120 bar pressure.
