A critical high-pressure steam leak was detected on a main turbine flange during peak operation hours. A traditional shutdown to replace the gasket would have resulted in millions of pesos in lost production and grid instability.
FMCS METALOCK deployed the Metaseal on-line leak sealing system. Our specialists designed and fabricated a custom Direct Injection Clamp to fit the specific flange geometry. Using high-temperature resistant compounds, we injected the sealant under pressure directly into the leak area while the line remained fully operational at 350°C and 120 bar pressure.
